Landslide
It’s a landslide for the gipper:
all the rocks and dirt and gravel and mud,
the trees and bushes, the goats and bears,
the softdrinkcans and candywrappers and surveymarkers and
telephonepoles,
the troutfishers and deerhunters and duckshooters and
minktrappers,
the Republicans and Democrats, the yuppies and their
puppies,
and the sun, the moon, the stars, the planets
have come crashing down.
No one will say again
“i HAVE BEEN to the mountain.”
When we climb out from under it,
there’ll be no place else to stand.
